It is a challenge to spend a night sleeping out in the open to help raise funds for Simon On The Streets. Participants will experience 'sleeping rough', exposed to the elements, with only the cardboard and sleeping bag that they bring.
Along with the actual sleep there will also be a unique opportunity to hear from some of the people we have supported and from our team of Support Workers.
The event aims to give an insight into the root causes of homelessness and how we aim to help.
It is an opportunity to learn about the real challenges that face rough sleepers on a daily basis and to understand exactly how and why they exist. As well as facing the challenge of a night out in the open, we aim for participants to gain understanding about the issues that the homeless face and a deeper sense of empathy for those who live that experience every day.
Who can join in?
#sleepwithsimon is a fantastic educational and team building exercise, as well as a challenge. When sleeping in a cardboard box everyone is equal. If you are looking to take on a team fundraising challenge that can help the homeless, #sleepwithsimon is a great event.
The Simon on the Streets team steward and host the event, meaning that even if you chose to face the challenge alone, you are not alone. We encourage individuals, small groups and larger teams to take part in #sleepwithsimon. What you take home with you will be a personal experience.
This event is open to adults over the age of 18. Participation from supervised, young adults, age 16+ will be considered. Please contact the charity directly.
