We hope that you are okay and keeping yourselves safe during this time.
We are still out there on the streets supporting the homeless and vulnerable. Below, we give an update of everything we been doing to support people and also some ways you could help us if you wish to do so.
What we have been doing
We are still out there, providing emotional and practical support however we can, be that in person whilst taking social distancing precautions or via telephone.
- Somewhere safe to stay: Our main goal has been to find rough sleepers and help them into temporary accommodation. Although we do understand that some prefer to be on the streets, and this is due to many complex reasons.
- Food and essentials: We have been delivering food parcels to those in temporary accommodation which includes water and products such as hand sanitiser in order to stay safe and healthy.
- Supporting those with complex needs: We are continuing to work with services such as Forward Leeds and Bevan Healthcare CIC for those with drug and alcohol dependencies, ensuring that they are being offered the support they need during this difficult time.
- Emotional support: this time is stressful for everyone, including our clients. Many of the people we support have poor mental health and we are contacting them regularly to listen to their worries, offer support and be someone they can turn to. Our outreach worker in Leeds talks about our work during the Covid-19 pandemic.
