Jessica's Story

We’re supporting our homeless clients with all the changes happening now restrictions are lifted. These changes affect them all. For some of our clients, services being able to open their doors again is positive. But, for Jessica (real name not used) the re-introduction of face-to-face appointments has been incredibly stressful.

Jessica has depression and anxiety. She has experienced rough sleeping, sexual exploitation, and mental ill health.

We have supported Jessica to gain her own accommodation and access services to help her with the exploitation she had been through.

During the pandemic, Jessica’s mental ill health worsened, and she grew to hate leaving the house. She suffered from flashbacks to the trauma she’d experienced and found going out of the house daunting and overwhelming. The switch to phone-only support that many services had implemented had actually been much better for Jessica.

As Jessica begins to adapt to moving back to face-to-face appointments, we’ve been supporting her by accompanying her to appointments. Walking has also been relaxing for her and we join her on walks around her local park. We have also helped Jessica link in with her doctor to review her mental health and discuss further support available.

Thanks to your donations, we can offer Jessica unlimited emotional and practical support. Make a donation today.
