We’re so excited for the return of our flagship fundraiser, Simon’s Big Sleep Out, this October.
As a non-commissioned charity, fundraising events are absolutely crucial when it comes to continuing our work supporting those living life on the streets. That’s why this week, we’re taking the opportunity to tell you all about what’s so special about Simon’s Big Sleep Out, and why you should sign up to join us on the night!
A sense of community
There’s nothing quite like being surrounded by people who’ve all come together to support the same cause. Whether you’ve been personally affected by homelessness, seen friends or family left with no alternative, or simply want to support the people you pass by on a daily basis, every single person taking part is doing so because they care. And that’s pretty special.
We’ll be settling down for the night at Leeds Civic Hall, right in the heart of the city centre where our outreach workers can regularly be found supporting and connecting with people facing homelessness.
It's an event that’s not so easy to ignore!
People facing homelessness are all too often overlooked and ignored as they struggle to survive in unacceptable conditions. And whilst this event isn’t about replicating the conditions of homelessness, it is about raising awareness.
With space for up to 120 people to join us, Simon’s Big Sleep Out is set to be our biggest event of the year.
We’ll be keeping everyone entertained throughout the night with sax and percussion music from Love Leeds Events, and an exciting quiz from KwizzBit. As for refreshments, Angelica Leeds, will be supplying tea, coffee and hot chocolate.
We’ll even have the company of the Mayor of Leeds, who’ll be joining us for part of the evening. Not only will he be showing his support for Simon’s Big Sleep Out, but he’s also chosen to support us in his year-long charity appeal.
The more people we can gather, the more support we can provide to those people living on the streets.
