In this blog post, we’ll show you where your money goes and how we spend it. We know that when you donate, you want to know that your money has the greatest impact on the lives of people experiencing homelessness. Our aim is to make donations go as far as possible. We promise that your money provides hope and support to the homeless in West Yorkshire.

You help fund vital support. Your money turns lives around. Let us tell you how.

How your money turns lives around.

Right now, there are people across West Yorkshire with no home. They’re in vulnerable situations, homeless, exploited, sleeping in squats, sofas, their car or on the streets.

Thanks to your donations we can offer intensive support to help break the cycle of homelessness. Your support means we can be there for them, no matter what.

We focus on each person’s goals.

We’re an independent charity and most of our money is unrestricted. This means we aren’t tied down to external targets and can support people towards their own goals and aspirations.

We can also work at each person’s own pace. We know there may be many setbacks on the journey towards sustainable positive change. That’s why we’re committed to supporting people through the transition from homelessness to becoming a tenant. For many, it’s a huge adjustment.

Practical and emotional support.

We know how valuable emotional support is, and, thanks to your donations, we can take the time to build a quality relationship with the people we support. It's important for us to build trust with our clients. Many have felt that the system has let them down and they don’t trust services.

Your donations also go towards practical support. This can include accompanying clients to appointments, filling out forms or purchasing phone credit, travel passes, food and drink.

Regular donations keep us going.

As an independent charity, it really is long term regular donations that keep us going. All donations, no matter the size, make a difference. Without your donations, we simply couldn’t do the work we do.

We invest in staff.

Most of our money goes directly towards supporting our clients. But we also invest in our staff to the make the biggest difference we can. It’s important our outreach workers have the tools they need to offer a wide range of support. That’s why our staff receive training in areas ranging from substance abuse, mental health, and trauma-informed care.

We also need to fundraise.

We also invest in fundraising to help us continue our work. Our small office team do all they can to ensure we receive the donations we need to continue offering support on the streets. Most recently, we’re also focusing on co-production by involving our clients in the design and delivery of our services.

Your donations matter to us and that’s why we make sure they have the biggest impact possible. We can’t tell you how grateful we are to all of you that support us. If you have any questions, please get in touch with us.

Last year, your support for Simon on the Streets led to over 400 people experiencing homelessness in West Yorkshire getting the support they need. We're with them from beginning to end, offering emotional and practical support. Help us continue to support people this winter by taking part in Simon's Sleepover. All you need to do is sleep anywhere but your bed for one night. Sign up today.
